Empire: Total War - Opnion

I just bought this game and am currently installing it. For those of you who own it, is it really worth buying it cause from what I seen it looks way fun but I could be wrong.

Re: Empire: Total War - Opnion

I always recommend new TW players to start out with Rome.

Not saying Empire isnt as good as Rome. Its just that Rome itself is highly playable and it seems "easier" to get the hang of it. No worries, Empire isnt a hard game at all, it just encompasses SO much land! It does get overwhelming trying to micromanage your war front in Europe while trying to keep your territories in the New World or India under control from local tribes or pirates. At least in Rome you had a giant block that was your borders and you grew based on warfare and needs.

I know it sounds all confusing, but its really a very easy learning curve. Surprisingly easy considering the sheer size of the Total War games.

Only downfall of Empire is the very long load times. Thats a first for TW. So dont get turned off by it. This is the FIRST TW game Ive played where I can honestly say they rushed it. But, TW games are much like God of War or Final Fantasy. They absolutely BLOW away anything else at the time of their release graphic/playability and entertainment wise.

It was all political for TW to go into muskets. The old Shogun fans like me wanted a Greece or revisit to Rome. But what happened was Rome massively introduced a TON of new TW players and fans. They where the ones screaming for a musket based TW game. Some even say WWI. And worse some even want WW2 and further....... Not saying they wont be fun, but it would be the first game (Empire) I felt they didnt fully prepare just had to be a musket/gunpowder era. But dont get me wrong. In no way shape or form am I saying its bad. It just isnt the creative assemblies style I think and they have even admitted they where not 100% happy about it. But its still going to blow your socks off when you start that thing up and have your first battle. Prepare...for TOTAL WAR! They weren't lying!

I watched Season 2 of Rome: HBO and am now playing Rome again. When you get tired check out the TW Center (google it) for incredible mods.

I like the gameplay on Rome more, but the graphics and units on Empire are really awesome.
